There is no additional cost to you, which also means it is not tax deductible, but it is an incredibly easy way to donate to your favorite charity. The donation amount may seem small at 0.5% of your purchase going toward the charity you choose, but if you think of all of the people who purchase gifts from Amazon, not just during the holidays but throughout the whole year, it can add up to a lot of money. Amazon has already reported millions of dollars have been donated through this program.
Any charity will tell you any amount of money, big or small, will help. The site has been available for just over two years now but I have spoken to many who are not yet aware of it. I, of course donate to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society but there are millions of charities to pick from. You are also allowed to change the charity you donate to at any time. Amazon even offers a way for you to register a charity you represent to receive donations through org.amazon.com.
Here is a fun fact about the Amazon logo that you may not be aware of. If you look at it you’ll notice there’s a smile made out of an arrow. The arrow goes from the A to the Z in Amazon. In other words it makes the statement that your purchases go from point A to point Z. Make those purchases count by purchasing then donating through Amazon Smile.
